mini-me.

Happy Thursday all! One of my favorite blogging friends and fellow Rhody, Kristen {from A Kapple A Day} tagged me to write about seven facts from my childhood. For those of you who commented on my little girl curls yesterday, you're getting another dose of my crazy locks today. Without further ado, here are seven things to know about my mini-me...

1) I was a juice box fiend {as evidenced below}. We were a Minute Maid household. My favorite was the fruit punch. I didn't actually know Juicy Juice existed until kindergarten! In recent years, I found out from my cousins that they always loved to come to our house because they'd get juice boxes. Hilarious.

2) My parents tried three times to give me a Teddy Ruxpin bear. Each bear I received developed some sort of defect {like a missing mouth or malfunctioning voicebox}, so I learned to make use of the Teddy Ruxpin box instead. I still can't believe I fit.

3) Though I'm not really sure why I was so excited in the picture below, you may be identifying a trend in these photos. I'm an only child. It is also quite possible that I had the most photographed childhood in the history of mankind. Growing up as an only child, I learned to amuse myself pretty easily...which this picture clearly illustrates.

4) On Saturday mornings, my parents would leave their door cracked so I could climb in bed with them when I woke up. It was a snug fit, but I always loved our cuddle sessions. Living in Indiana, I also vividly remember a few thunderstorms where I assumed the same position. Thinking of those Saturday mornings always make me smile.

5) I was FASCINATED with my Nana's walk-in closet in Hilton Head. I'd play in there for hours when we went to visit. Can you tell she loved blue and green?? Funny enough, I find my style evolving more and more into that classic preppy look my grandmother always sported so beautifully.

6) As an Indiana native, I have always been a Indianapolis Colts fan. Their franchise made the move to my home state the year before I was born. Little did I know that twenty years later, I'd meet an avid Patriots fan, marry him, and move into enemy territory. It's one of our only standing disagreements. Though {cv} did bring me into the Red Sox fold, I will never root for the Patriots.

7) My first Halloween, my parents paraded me as a little pig. In my second showing, I went as a farmer. When you grow up in the Midwest surrounded by cornfields and farm animals, these first two costumes made perfect sense.

I'm tagging Molly from TupeloLove, Megan from Across the Pond, Leigh from Kate & Leigh, Brooke from Bright Wishes, Michaela from Michaela Noelle, Megan from Mackey Madness, and Amy from A Daring Little Life to play along in this walk down memory lane, if they so choose :)

Get ready for another edition of Friday's Fancies tomorrow...I'm also planning on doing a "link-up" for those of you who want to participate! Just consider Friday's Fancies to be the outfit you wish you could wear tomorrow night for whatever you're doing---if money were no object! {It's really pretty fun to shop for an outfit that doesn't cost you any moolah!} I hope some of you join me :)

Until tomorrow! xoxo {av}

  1. Omigosh! This post was almost too much to handle ;-) Soooo cute!! I have a lot of pictures from my childhood because it was just me until my sister was born when I was 8. Last summer while she was home from college she spent weeks scanning and uploading our childhood pictures into Facebook... so whenever I want to relive my awkard years, the reminders are RIGHT there on Facebook ;-) Wasn't it fun growing up in the 80s?
