season tickets.

Last night, the hubby and I shared a perfect date night in the midst of all the holiday craziness.
We had a fabulous meal at Cook & Brown Public House on the East Side of Providence before heading into downtown to catch one of my all-time favorite musicals, South Pacific, at the
Providence Performing Arts Center.

One of the sweetest, most thoughtful things {cv} ever did during our long distance days was to subscribe to the Broadway Lights series in Charlotte. He knew how much I loved musicals, so it was quite the treat to have scheduled date nights during those three years we spent apart. It was perfect because it would always guarantee we'd have some time for the two of us. Though we didn't continue the tradition the first year we moved to Providence, {cv} surprised me this year with a subscription to the Broadway Series at PPAC. Suffice it to say, he never ceases to make me smile :)

I won't drone on and on about today, but I will send you off with a picture of our $10 Wal-Mart tree {circa 2006} which now graces our apartment. By all accounts, it's been a productive weekend, though I still have some work to do on our Christmas cards. {I'm putting a deadline for myself of tomorrow...eeks!}

After church this morning, we found a great strand of green, white, and red "pearl" lights at Target. The picture really doesn't do it justice, but the tree has a vintage glow {or so says my husband} and I'm quite happy with the results! {You can also see the HVAC pipes that Lucy and Gus used to climb as kittens, which gave me a heart attack every time I found them 20 feet in the air. Oy!}

Enjoy the last few hours of your respective Sundays!
Here are a few kisses from me to you ;) xo {av}

  7. Oh, I'm so excited to meet a Providence dweller-my parents have a pied a terre there (that embarrassingly I still haven't visited!) and I'm thrilled to see the neighborhood from another perspective! Can't wait to read more!

  8. Yeah, we got our Christmas cards done and mailed....yet the Thank-You cards form our wedding...not even close. I was trying to give myself a deadline of Christmas, but I'm not sure if that will work out anymore. Sigh

    2) Musicals are the best...this production of South Pacific was incredible!
    3) Sometimes making do with what we have makes getting something even better down the road that much more special. It's how I survived long-distance! You have to remember that each step is a step in the right direction!

    Much love to you all--thanks again! xoxo
