west coast sweethearts.

Good morning! We're shipping up to Indiana later this morning, but it truly has been a phenomenal visit in the Volunteer State. I got to meet Ashley and Cambron last night--and we just had the best time :) Blogging really can make you feel at home anywhere you go!

Today, I have Matt and Kelley {from Kelley Maria}--a pair of high school sweethearts who call Oregon home. They started dating nearly ten years ago, when Matt was a senior in high school and Kelley a freshman. He took her to his senior prom {photo evidence below!} and she stole his heart! Their example of perseverance is definitely worth the read...

Name:  Kelley
Significant Other's Name:  Matt
When did you start dating? We started dating in 2002, when I was a freshman and Matt was a senior in high school.  He took me to his senior prom--we totally broke the rules!

At what point did you begin dating long distance?  We began dating long distance when Matt left for college and I still had three years of high school.

How do you fill your days while you're apart?  I was busy being a typical high school girl with after school sports and friends.  We talked on the phone every evening before we went to bed.

What did you find most difficult about being long distance?  I found two things very trying: going so long without seeing each other and communicating over the phone. It was also a bummer to not have my boyfriend by my side at high school dances and football games like my other friends.

How has long distance changed your relationship?  We both gained a strong trust in each other and our relationship.  A long distance relationship will not last without trust. Seeing each other for the first time in a long time always gave me big butterflies!  It was so exciting!

What sacrifices have you made in order to make things work?  Matt eventually moved back to Oregon and, after 3 years of being long distance, we were finally together in the same town! We spent those years apart learning to trust one another and strengthening our bond.

How has your life changed now that you're back in the same place?  To be honest, adjusting to living in the same town was more difficult than we thought it would be.  We had become so accustomed to doing our own thing and got really good at having a long distance relationship.  All of a sudden we didn't know how to balance out school, friends and our relationship.  After a rough patch and a break apart, we got back together and knew that we were meant to be.  Our break apart made us stronger and eventually led to our engagement and marriage!

I can't thank Matt and Kelley enough for chronicling their long distance with me! Their story should definitely impress upon those of you who are still long distance that it is worth the time and effort to stick with it. By the way, if you don't know Kelley's blog, you really should! It's full of eye candy and gorgeous ideas, a great combination in my book.

I'll see you all back here tomorrow for a festive round of Friday's Fancies...I cannot wait!

  3. I know I've said it before, but I just love this series. I can't believe so many couples have done this whole long distance thing. I barely thought I would make it a year, much less 3- way to go Kelly and Matt!

  10. Search engines will go long way from now in the next year of course. Secondly, social media is certainly making a mark in the world of marketing. Now what matters is presentation of your data. What will look good is what will move up on search engines as well as social media sites.

  11. We dont know why you would pick a robot toy dog over a ACTUALL living dog that needs attention, love, food, and water. why dont you look up the benifits of a robot dog and let us know how that works out for you.

  13. Which camera is best is a very subjective thing. If you just want to take pictures as a hobby, I would consider a bridge model. Bridge models are a little more advanced than compact cameras, but not as complicated as a DSLR. Some examples of bridge models are the Nikon Coolpix P500 and the Canon PowerShot SX30 IS. Either of those cameras would be good for a hobbyist like you.

  14. I noticed a drop in our monthly electric bill, consistently on a month by month average. If I had to put a percentage on it, I'd say about a 15% decrease in consumption.
