i have ideas.

During the blizzard earlier this month, {cv} and I finally finished the last season of West Wing. Though I wasn't eager to say goodbye to the characters, I was eager to tackle a few other series we've been putting on the back burner--most notably, Mad Men. I don't know about you, but working through a series from the beginning makes it feel less like TV and more like a movie. I'm down with that...

I may not love the philandering men, but I do love the classic fashion. Seeing behind the scenes in the ad world also make this graphic design nerd very happy. We're only halfway through the first season and I'm totally intrigued. I am also very glad clip-on earrings aren't the style these days. My ears would hate me!

We were late to the game with Downton Abbey, but we are right on track these days. {I am heartbroken after seeing the end of this season...don't even get me started.} After we work through
Mad Men, we're open for ideas--as long as the shows don't involve vampires or blood.
What TV series are in your "life" queue?  xoxo {av}

  2. I've never seen either shows - but I make sure I watch Revenge and Scandal every week. They are fantastic. I've also recently gotten into Body of Proof.

  3. I love love love Mad Men - excellent choice. I know I'm about 10 years behind on this, but we just started watching Lost on Netflix. If on the off chance you haven't watched it, it's a good one to start. Also, Prison Break is one of the best shows I have ever seen. Definitely recommend you add that one to your list!

  4. Downton is the BEST, though I seem to cry during every episode.... We also love The Walking Dead (but there are zombies and lots of blood), Game of Thrones (HBO's best series ever), and Nashville. I've been dying to catch up with Mad Men, but my TV plate is a little full right now. I'm going to tackle it this summer when good TV is sad and scarce.

  5. Boardwalk Empire is my absolute favorite show on TV. The storyline is loosely based around Prohibition and gangsters and is *somewhat historically accurate...

  6. I just finished season one of Homeland and I'm OBSESSED. Also, Scandal is really good (I'm only through season one currently) and Girls will always be a favorite!

  7. That is 100% advertising. It is still like that. Which is why I cannot watch it.

  8. We love Modern Family and Big Bang Theory! There are some other shows I like but they don't meet your criteria of no blood or vampires!

  9. I think I am the only person to not like Mad Men. I watch it when I can't fall asleep because it always makes me!

  10. I flew through Alias in December — SO good! I started Felicity after that, the beginning was rough, but now I'm enjoying it. I think they only have the first season of Scandal on Netflix right now, but it's my favorite! I want to be Olivia Pope when I grow up.

  12. I'm not really a TV watcher but I married a man named Matthew Crawley recently, and I guess that character in the series also got married recently haha. So everyone brings up Downton Abbey to me

  13. Mad Men is one of my all-time fave shows. It took me a while to get into because I hated Don's womanizing ways at first but eventually I came to find other aspects of the show I loved. The female characters get a lot stronger and more ballsy as the show goes on and I really appreciated that. Downton Abbey is in the queue but still haven't started it yet. Right now, we're watching Game of Thrones (very bloody - you might not like it). But some past faves are Friday Night Lights, Boardwalk Empire, & Dexter (also bloody but really good).

I know what you mean about watching the series as a whole so it feels more like a movie. I pretty much only watch reality tv when it actually airs and save my fiction shows for dvd/on demand. :)

  17. If you like West Wing and Mad Men, I think you would really like Scandal. It's very intelligent and always keeps you on your toes! I'm also a big Parenthood and Friday Night Lights fan, and I believe they share a producer or director or some other bigwig. Let me know if you decide to watch any of these beginning-to-end; I'd love to hear what you think of them! :)

  18. We've been all caught up on Mad Men for what seems like ages. The new season is starting soon and I can't wait to get back to it!

We also got hooked on Homeland - the seasons aren't very long and every episode leaves you hanging so we knocked that off so quickly it's almost embarrassing!

  19. GIRLS! Awkward but hilarious. I also need to see Revenge after watching the first four episodes on an airplane.

  24. I've been hearing all the Mad Men buzz for so long that I think I have to finally get into it! I'm studying marketing/PR in school so I think the advertising-nerd inside me would love it :) I also just watched Parenthood on Netflix - so good. My friends are trying to get me into Nashville and Downton Abbey!
