For years, I wouldn't touch gold jewelry. In recent months, I started noticing
a surprising shift in my jewelry-buying habits: I'm a total gold convert.

I never thought it would happen, but I actually prefer gold these days. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for my old stand-by, silver, but gold has stolen my heart. Thanks to BaubleBar, I can indulge in both loves without breaking the bank! Where do you fall in the gold vs. silver debate? xoxo {av}

ugh, I'm the same! only silver or white gold for years, and suddenly... my engagement ring isn't yellow gold, so I've totally thrown in the towel on rules about matching :)
ReplyDeleteI've always been a total gold girl...I rarely ever wear anything silver! My grandmother told me when I was little that because I have green undertones in my skin, NEVER wear silver because it will wash me out. Well, I've taken her advice! Recently though I've found myself drawn towards mixed metals...it's wearing silver without really wearing silver ;)
ReplyDeleteI love gold and rose gold! I break all the rules and combine white, yellow, and rose gold every day. Send out the fashion police! I love it, stand by it, and believe that the days of "matching" are over!
ReplyDeleteI mix and match gold and rose gold with my rings all the time (white gold and platinum) because I can't wear silver - it irritates my skin. I'm definitely on board with everyone who's throwing out the matching rules! :D
ReplyDeleteI cannot get enough gold lately. It has gotten to the point where people come up to me in the office asking if I am wearing enough gold. Oops. I am not sure I will ever go back to being a silver girl.
ReplyDeleteI prefer gold but actually find myself mixing gold and silver these days!
ReplyDeleteOn paper, I will always choose silver but in real life,I sometimes opt for GASP! gold. Or sometimes you can find a mix of both, which are usually pretty pieces <3

I'm a white gold person all the way, however like you I've been mixing metals lately. I think it's because I'm a cool tone person. Plus, my wedding rings are white gold and platinum and it always felt weird to have yellow gold close to those babies :)

I'm a total gold convert too! I used to hate it, I think really on principle, but with it popping up more and more in the last few years, I tried a few pieces and I've found it looks 100 times better on my warm-toned skin that silver does. Over the last three years I couldn't tell you one piece of jewelry that I've bought that is silver. I still love all of my old sterling pieces, but I find that I'm only wearing them on the rare occasion that I'm opting for a VERY cool-toned outfit.
ReplyDeletePS - I NEED that gold knot bracelet like air in my lungs :)
I think we are recently finding them a-okay because the gold color isn't gaudy yellow gold as before. They've learn to alter the color of gold to make it more appealing just as how they did white gold. Cause these same jewelry with gaudy gold ... I would not look at either but these gold color tones are easy on the eyes.
ReplyDeleteI still prefer silver/white gold over yellow gold but I do think it looks better with certain things! Like, the second and third bracelets on your list I think look better in regular gold than silver! And rose gold is a nice alternative, too!
ReplyDeleteLOVE this post. I used to be all about gold.. but lately I've been more into silver. The mini cone cuffs are so good, I wear mine like every day. xo
ReplyDeleteI am all about yellow gold! However I am not a bracelet person, I feel so claustrophobic in them. Necklaces are my obsession :)
ReplyDeleteSo true - I HATED gold for forever, thought it was so tacky. But the past couple year, its all I gravitate to!

I'm a silver girl through and through!
ReplyDeleteI used to be the same way. I thought gold looked so cheap and gawdy so I wanted nothing to do with it. In the last year or two, though, I've started to come around. I like little touches of it here and there but I still don't like when it's too yellow.
ReplyDeleteI was JUST saying the same thing today! I buy SO much gold jewelry and I use to never ever want gold. Crazy! Love these jewels! : )

I've gone through the exact same shift. I'm definitely all gold though now. Love this post and the pieces!
ReplyDeleteWhen my fiance proposed with a ring that has a gold band and a white gold setting, his reasoning was that "now you can wear it with any of your other jewelry." Boys are nothing if not practical ;) I love both gold and silver and usually wear different pieces depending my mood and outfit, but now I wear them together!
ReplyDeleteTotally happened to me too...as I got older!
ReplyDeleteI'd say both? Is that an option? But when I was younger, I like expressly wore silver. I don't know why that's a thing.
ReplyDeleteooh the decision I beat my self up over every time I purchase jewelry. Right now I am a gold girl for sure, but I have no idea what I will want to wear on my finger for forever when it comes time to get engaged. How did you make that tough decision?

Here&Now
I totally agree! Because I was blondish with light skin, I didn't think I was "allowed" to wear gold. Now I have a cute gold watch and some Alex & Ani bangles that I love! I was also told blondes couldn't wear black eyeliner, though, and now I brave that sometimes too. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so tough. I'm a gold girl though... so I'm going to stick with it!
ReplyDeleteGold gold gold, though lately I've been leaning towards silver as well, so I say both!
ReplyDeleteI made the switch to gold about four years ago because I kept being drawn to those pieces. Now I occasionally mix in a two tone piece- but still yellow gold is my go to!!!
