friday's fancies #23.

Last Friday, I watched the Royal Wedding with four of my best friends in {ch}'s lovely apartment in NYC. After the wedding, I napped and then adventured out with {kj} while {ch} and {ah} were hard at work. We roamed for almost four hours and I snapped some photos along the way. As a big fan of signs, I have noticed this one on more than one visit to NYC. The red, white, and black combination always calls my name. For today's Friday's Fancies, I decided to pull my inspiration from this sign and create an outfit in which I'd stroll the streets of NYC. It's a little unexpected, but in my opinion, all New Yorkers mix together different pieces that somehow harmoniously work together. Here is my attempt at the same...

{all images are screenshots from the corresponding links below}
1) Playing off of the texture on the neckline of the blouse, I loved the way this Whiting & Davis Chain Chain Chain Clutch was glam but also had a bit of an edge.
2) While staying in SoHo, I must have passed the Phillip Lim store six times over the course of the weekend. So when I eyed this 3.1 Phillip Lim Embellished Silk + Linen-Blend Blouse, I knew I had to include it. I loved the necklace-esque detail at the top of the shirt--so pretty and no necklace needed!
3) These Oscar de la Renta Mosaico Button Earrings felt a little vintage and a little glam, so I thought they would be a perfect accessory for this get-up.
4) I wish I could rock the sky-high heels I spotted all over NYC last weekend, but my klutziness severely limits my heel usage ;) For a day of exploration, I thought these Sigerson Morrison Strappy Sandals would add a pop of color and keep me from teetering all over the place.
5) These Moschino Polka-Dot Silk Shorts made an appearance last month in this post, but I couldn't resist incorporating them. They are infinitely more fun than plain black shorts and add a little sass to the outfit!

What city do you dream of calling home?
Is there a city which has a sense of style you like to emulate?

I know I'll never be a New Yorker, but the best part of Friday's Fancies is that I get to imagine that I am for the day ;) For the Friday's Fancies Faithful, these posts have allowed them to dream big and still keep their wallets in check. I'd love for you to join in the fun like 68 beautiful bloggers did last week! As always, feel free to email me if you would like to join in but need help! This post may also help answer a few of your questions! {If you want another example of a Friday's Fancies post, check out my guest post on Life Spelled J E N!} Have a very happy Friday and a glorious weekend! Endless thanks to those you who are taking the time to link up this week! You make every Friday a fabulous one for me :) xoxo {av}

  1. City wise, Paris was probably the most fashionable I've ever lived in :) I don't know that I'll be back there again, but I'd say that it still influences my choices (mostly by making feel ashamed when I leave the house in something which would have given my French host-mother a stroke, ha!)

  2. Love the outfit! I must say the city I'd love to call home would have to be Rome. And the style, the fashion, the architecture, the wine, love it all! Seriously, the fashion is to die for. I seriously fell in-love this past November and so did Bern, my boyfriend. We both didn't want to leave and we are going back this fall, too. It was hard to adjust to coming back to the States. Great post! Thanks for making me go back in time and to a far away land. Have a fabulous Friday.

  19. I want those sandals...:) These are adorable picks. I love the way red makes basic black bold, but I can never bring myself to wear it--it's a side effect of going to U of L, I guess.

  24. Hate I missed linking up on Friday...I was out of town and had no internet connection! I'll just have to make up for it this Friday!!! I think your outfit is very NYish! especially the polka dot shorts with the red shoes and earrings!

    If I could go to any state right now, it'd be California, in bohemian chic attire!

  25. Hmmm...I think my city would have to be Rome. The whole city exudes a chic vibe and the women are some of the most beautiful & well put together ones I've ever seen (second maybe to Paris).

    Ps. I know this may be a bit off topic here, but gotta say I'm so glad I bumped into your blog :) I'm currently in a long, long-distance relationship (GR to UK) and need all the encouragement I can get...
