adopting boston.

Though you'll find me in Indiana this week, my heart is still in New England with {cv}. When we started dating, he always sported this fantastically worn-in Boston Red Sox hat, cocked a little to the side. {Now, whenever he wears a hat, I smile and think back to those early days!} Growing up in a state without a baseball team, he worked quickly to outfit me as a Red Sox fan. In our almost six years together, we've seen the Red Sox play eight times--and I'm now a full-fledged fan. Here are a few photos from our most recent Fenway experience earlier this month:

See that hat!? It's not the one he wore when we met six years ago, but it is a little to the side like the good ol' days ;) After seeing this photo, I also realized how decked out we were in gear from our alma mater. We're a little nerdy--forgive us! {Our future baby {v}'s are destined for geekiness!} All in all, we had a perfect Friday night under the lights--in the best seats either of us have ever had at Fenway!

Have you ever "adopted" something because of someone you love?

I'm so happy to now call myself a Red Sox fan. I most certainly didn't jump on the bandwagon--I adopted Boston as my team very willingly because of my love for {cv} ;) Though we now have a shared  affection for the Red Sox, we'll always share a mutual hatred of one another's NFL teams. {He's a Pats fan and I'm a Colts fan. We have to have a little competition in our house somewhere, right?!}

Get excited for another fabulous round of Friday's Fancies tomorrow! Need some inspiration for your post? Pull together your dream Memorial Day weekend outfit! {I've got a post lined up with my birthday celebration and our Cape adventure in mind :) woohoo!}

Thanks for bearing with me this week while I've been on my unexpected work trip--I promise lots of fabulousness next week, including a phenomenal giveaway coming on Tuesday! I am counting down the minutes until tomorrow when I can see your Friday's Fancies posts roll in!
Have a great Thursday! xoxo {av}

  2. Even though I am from Washington state, my brother forced me to become a Red Sox fan :) The day Johnny Damon traded to the Yankees, he wrote "traitor" on his prized poster in huge black sharpie and insisted on hanging it in the front hallway for a month. Victoria's Secret has some really cute limited edition baseball gear, and I have already placed my order for the season: http://www.victoriassecret.com/pink/boston-red-sox

  3. This post is really cute. And I hear ya... I "adopted" a love of UConn men's basketball for my husband. Now I can appreciate it almost as much as he does... almost.

  4. Aw, looks like fun!! And as I am seriously considering moving to Boston in January *hopefully! I really really want to!* I have to admit I am drinking in anything Boston-related. So a Boston Redsox game sounds perfect! :)

  6. Fenway is like home to me. I absolutely love the place!! I swear, when you walk up from the tunnel (near home plate)...its like God is smiling down on you:)

  7. I haven't really adopted any teams, I am pretty hardcore about my own teams (but working in sports for 6 years will do that to you...). This might sound soooo cheesy, but I think it's so awesome that you are not a bandwagon fan! I work in the MLB & when the Red Sox come to town, so does everyone else that think it's "the cool thing to do, to wear a Sox shirt". I've been to Fenway & I love that ballpark (& that city, too!). It looks like you too had such a fun night!

  8. Pats > Colts. Don't proclaim love for the Colts in New England! Ah!

    Now I am really wishing I wore hats so I could have a Red Sox hat to wear this weekend instead of flip flops!

  11. I am a diehard Notre Dame fan so there is no way J could convert me to root for his college football team, the Huskers. However I now watch professional bowling and tennis and have favorite players (go Nadal!) in each sports because of him :)

  12. We're in the same boat. I've adopted the SF Giants because of The Boyfriend even though I'm not a big baseball fan in general, but he and I will always be NFL enemies. He's a 49ers fan, I'm a Cowboys fan. There's no reconciliation in that area!
