girlfriend investment.

I wrote a guest post today for the ever-lovely Emily over at Simply Southern
It's all about investing time in your girlfriends, especially if you find yourselves
in long distance friendships! {I think we all have those!}
{nyc - vegas - dc}

Do your best friends live more than a town away?
If so, what do you do to stay in touch?

Make sure to hop over to Simply Southern and get my take on the topic :)
Have a great Wednesday, y'all! One day closer to Friday!
xoxo {av}

P.S. Need a guest post? I'm happy to fill in!

  3. Yes! My friends and I are all over the place! We all stay in touch different ways. It's getting more difficult to find time for a phone call or skype date when we work such late hours. Honestly blogging and e-mailing. We send each other fun images, fashion images, that one another like. Just a lovely reminder that we still think about each other everyday. :)

  7. So awesome and LOVE the guest post! I have a few far-away friends and bbm, whatsapp, skype, facebook and email are all our saving graces... It's amazing how some friends disappear when there i distance between you but other friendships thrive and grow?! x

  8. I absolutely think the upside to being far away from your friends is having great places to visit! My best friend and I haven't lived in the same city for 6 years and we're still best friends!

  10. I'm from California and I lived there for 30 years before my boyfriend started getting transferred around with his company. From 30-37 now I've lived in Nevada, Ohio, and currently Texas and it's been really hard to be away from my best friends.

    We stay in touch with emails, phone calls, and Skype and I fly out there twice a year to see everyone. I miss them LOTS though.

  12. I'm going to hop on over to Emily's blog & get your take on this issue!

    I have friends all over the place & I LOVE visiting them, or meeting up in new cities. Sometimes it's hard being away from them, but it's always fun to meet up with them in a new place when you travel to see them :) Hello Adventures!

  13. I loved your guest post!! All of my best girlfriends live far away from me! After college they all moved away but I stayed and got married. Its super tough not having that close connection. We're all starting huge new chapters in our lives and I hate that I can't share everything with them. We try our hardest to get together. We keep up through Facebook, texts, emails, and good ole international Skype. But I definitely miss my girls! I was so thankful they were able to come and stand up with me at my wedding though!!

  14. I def feel this issue! I'm the only friend in our "group" to move 1,000 miles away after college.

    Emails, real mail (who doesn't <3 mail?!), and even a few late night, 15 hour drives have kept us close. :)

  15. When me and my girlfriends graduate from highschool and went off to all different colleges we first experienced long distance friendships. Some of us had no trouble with it, others did.

    So, when it came to me moving from NJ to TX we were on a whole new level of long distance friendships. My best friend and I text constantly and chat often and try to share things that happened during the day with each other.

    Right now is especially hard because one of my girlfriends is 37 weeks pregnant and I have been away for most of her pregnancy and I certainly won't be there for the delivery :( I will get to see them for the baptism since I'm the god-mommy.

    Sigh - it's tough. But I think it makes us stronger!

  18. just read your post on emily's blog! i can totally relate!! most of my relationships have been long distance and understanding and trust is key, just like you said! it's hard sometimes, but totally worth it when you see them face to face!! oh, and it's the same for girlfriends too! the best ones are those you have that special connection with and can pick up right where you left off, like they say!

  19. What a great topic! All my closest girlfriends live more than an town away (or many, many more than that!) and it's so important to keep those relationships strong and healthy.

  20. Thank you for stopping by my blog and for becoming a follower! I am looking forward to following your blog! One of my best friends lives 11 hours away and it's hard to stay in touch, but every time we see each other it's as if no time has passed. I think that's when you know you have a special friendship. My husband (then boyfriend) and I were long distance for 3 years during college and it made us stronger. It took trust and faith, but we learned things about each other that I don't think we would have if we had never been long distance.

  22. Loved your post...I'll be honest made me tear up a little bit. All of my best girlfriends are- or soon to be- faraway best friends. Your post was encouraging though! I'm looking forward to being able to spend fun girls weekend with them wherever we all end up!

    Great words of wisdom, as always!

  24. Blogs! Blogs! Blogs! My 3 best friends (from high school.. back in the day) and I all live in separate cities: myself - Los Angeles, bffs- Nashville, Houston, and Kansas City. Not exactly down the road. So we started a private blog last year and it's a great way for us to keep in touch when life gets too busy to make 3 phone calls describing one situation.

    And, YES! places to visit :)

    xoxo
