spontaneity.

It's only appropriate Laguna Beach is back on MTV this week. Why you ask? In mid-June, I booked an impromptu girls' weekend with airline miles in LC's old stomping grounds. For this coming weekend. For a planner like me, my spontaneity took me by surprise--but I cannot wait to be reunited with two of my besties on the west coast on Saturday.

This weekend, I feel as though I'll be living out a 36 Hours feature on New York Times. I arrive mid-morning on Saturday and then have a red-eye home on Sunday night. The schedule isn't ideal, but I'll be back to work bright and early on Monday, riding the wave of what is sure to be a great weekend. With the quick turnaround, we're still trying to plot out our short time together, which is where you come in. With your help, each and every trip since I started blogging has been better than the one before.

I'd absolutely love your input on the must-see's in and around Orange County. We'll have a car, so mobility isn't an issue. We love yummy food and tasty drinks--and anywhere we can relish in some girl time. Since little {v}s aren't in the picture just yet, I knew I had to jump on the chance to fly west. I'm only young once, right? And please forgive me for not staying longer--I promise a west coast Blogger Blitz soon!

  1. haha that is too funny that it is back on TV! I used to love that show. A few girlfriends and I did a Laguna Beach girls weekend in college, and we decided to show up at Stephen's surf shop to see if we could meet him (this was about 4 years after the show ended)...they were like, uhh..he hasn't worked here in years. Ha!

  2. Go for drinks at the Montage Hotel or the Ritz Carlton. They are AMAZING. My cousin is the executive chef at the Montage.

  3. Balboa & Catalina are a lot of fun! But just stay by the water and you ladies will have an amazing time! If there is a Menchies FroYo you gotta get some! xo

  4. I'm with Katie go to the Montage (it's actually really close to Laguna Beach... which is also a must-see if you ask me). If you're feeling fancy, and in the mood to spend some major $$$ eat dinner at the Montage too. It's really pricy, but I seriously had the best meal of my life there. =P
Also, Christin, is right go to Balboa Island. It's the cutest little beach town, and is one of my very favorite OC spots. The houses are beautiful, the beach is sweet, and the restaurants are yummy. You can also rent a kayak and kayak around the harbor. I love doing that. =) Take the ferry to the other side of the "island" (it's actually a peninsula)and just enjoy the cute beachiness. The thing to eat on Balboa is chocolate dipped frozen bananas.
My favorite mall in OC is Fashion Island. It's in Newport Beach (close to Balboa and Laguna) and is beautiful.. and fancy schmancy. =)
Ohh and my favorite beach to layout and relax is Crystal Cove. It's beautiful, kind of secluded, and they music video for 311's song "Amber" was filmed there. There's also a little restaurant at Crystal Cove beach but I have yet to eat there. (I'm still sad they put the restaurant in because the beach was pretty secluded until that restaurant was built. Wamp wamp.)
Uhmm I'm sure I'll have some more recommendations for you this week, but I know you'll have an AMAZING time! =)

  5. I don't think I emphasized this enough, but I LOVE Laguna Beach. Love love love... it's absolutely beautiful, has good people watching, good restaurants, really great boutiques, and nice art galleries. It's just plain awesome.
Oh and where are you staying?

  6. Oh how exciting...the Montage for sure!!!! Also, if you quickly want a drink overlooking the water in Laguna Beach, "the beach house" is a fun place to go to. Balboa Island as many mentioned. The Great Park in Irvine and its free balloon ride would be fun too...especially on a clear evening...sunsets are awesome! :) You'll have a blast!

  10. I actually did the same thing in March - randomly bought a plane ticket and visited my best friend from college who lives in Laguna. It was AWESOME! I wanted to stay there!

My suggestions: Go to San Clemente for sunset and eat at Fisherman's - the restaurant takes up half the pier and there are amazing views! Going shopping in Laguna on Forest Ave - really cute boutiques. And if you can make it there, Balboa Island is really fun - there's a lot of cute little boutiques and restaurants and you can take a ferry ride.

    Have fun!

  11. Basically going to echo the other comments. The Montage is so nice! Balboa is super cute-definitely fun to walk around and look at little boutiques and nice houses. I love shopping at Fashion Island in Newport. They have a Vineyard Vines there (plus a ton of other stores). If you want to do a longer road trip I love Shutters in Santa Monica! It's right on the beach

  14. I'll second a couple above. Definitely hit up the Montage, it's beautiful just to walk around and sip fun cocktails. You might also stumble across a reality show star or two, they are always there.

  16. I love Laguna Beach and the Hills! I don't watch MTV much anymore (not a fan on the newer shows) so I had no idea they were playing reruns! I'll have to start watching. :)

  17. Ah, Laguna Beach made my life when I was little! You have to go shopping at Fashion Island, too!

  18. You will have an absolutely fabulous time...I love it there! And the view is amazing! Make sure you hit the beach...even if it's just to admire the view (water, surf, sand).
