out with the old.

Happy Monday! After celebrating my fifth college reunion this weekend {and my 27th birthday last week}, it's one of those weeks which could easily make me feel...old. If this weekend taught me anything, it is that "old" is most certainly a frame of mind.

George Burns said it right: we will all get older, but it doesn't mean we have to get old

After this weekend, I realized I can still:
...dance for hours with my girlfriends but happily wear flats rather than kill my feet in heels.
...allow myself a week of pure indulgence--and realize I have this week to work out ;)
...feel giddy when I walk by the house where {cv} and I first met back in 2005.
...walk through the gates of alma mater and have it feel like home.

I could go on, but I'll spare you. Suffice it to say, I've made the decision to stop saying that I feel "old". I may be older, but being "old" is a choice! More from me tomorrow after I get my head on straight after this fantastic weekend--I hope you all have a phenomenal week :)

P.S. Many, many thanks to the fabulous friends who came out to Blogger Blitz DC last night! The weekend couldn't have ended on a better note--I am already plotting the next one ;) If you're in Chicago, don't miss my blitz in the windy city! Be sure to send all your #bloggerblitzdc posts my way! yay!

  2. I agree with you 110%! Age is just a number; it's how you decide to live and feel that truly determines whether you are young or old. Happy to hear you had a good weekend! :)

  3. I turned 27 in December so I can relate. The good thing about getting older is having a real job which means a real paycheck! Look at Jennifer Aniston, she is 43 and still looks amazing so we still have so much to live for!

  7. Great post! Sometimes after college it's easy to start feeling old every once in a while, but that quote is a good way of looking at it!

  9. I'm only 21 so I couldn't be classified as "old" yet, but I think my favorite part of getting older is the fact that people seem to take me more seriously. That and I LOVE being an example for younger "kids". :)

  10. First, it was great meeting you at the Blogger Blitz DC! Thank you for organizing! Second, and to the question at hand, I've found as I get older, I've gained a kind of internal calm or self confidence and stopped worrying so much about what other people think about me. Not in a conceited way. Just an I'm happy with myself way that was more elusive when I was younger.

  11. First, Happy belated Birthday! I hope you had an absolutely fabulous day. One thing I like about being older is the "experiences" that I've had the opportunity to have. It's kind of an odd thing to say but, I have enjoyed ALL of my life experiences to date: the good, the bad and the ugly and the comical ones! There is times when I would disagree with this statement but, everything we experience makes us a better person!
And I must say that I am deeply dissapointed that I will not (at this point) be able to make the Blogger Blitz in Chicago. However, you never know...I am tempted to get a ticket "just in case"...

  12. 27 is not cringe worthy. Neither is 47. As long as you live life its all good. I'm 29 and honestly it didn't bother me at all this year. I'm more confident, I'm taking better care of my health, and I'm taking more chances then I have in years. Age is a an indicator of how long you've had to perfect yourself.
