april showers.

With rain on the docket this week in New England, I find myself struggling to feel "cute" in spring downpours. I wear my Hunters, but often just make the run for it--without an umbrella in hand. My curly hair may frizz slightly with the rain {ok, I lie--it frizzes a LOT in the rain}, though it's somehow never quite enough to get me to change my umbrella-wielding habits.

This umbrella conundrum got me thinking: if I had a cute umbrella {like I have fabulous boots!}, wouldn't I want to carry it? Using this rationale, I decided to find a few which caught my fancy...

So tell me: what are your spring weather survival tips?
How do you stay chic in the rain?

Can't wait to hear your tips! Stay dry today--and if you're lucky enough to be
seeing the sunshine, don't gloat too much ;) Happy Tuesday! xoxo {av}

  2. I loveee 3, 4, and 6. I would definitely have to go with 6 though, since pink is my favorite color. You're right though, you should want to carry a cute umbrella. At least that's how it worked out for me. I love my Coach umbrella. I remember when I use to beg for rain just so I could carry it. Lol.

  9. A friend of mine has a clear umbrella with Burberry check trim, it is the cutest thing. I'm such a dork, I actually have a hot pink monogrammed umbrella which helps a lot when I'm trying to identify mine from everyone else's black and navy ones at the door.

  10. Rain is the WORST b/c you definitely get soaked, as opposed to snow which kind of brushes off! I wear rain boots and hope for the best! :)

  11. I love that pink one! Rain just means a chance to bust out my rainboots!

  12. Can you believe that I've lived in the pacific northwest for nearly my entire life (Seattle for the past 3 years) and I don't own an umbrella?! haha

  13. I have a #3-style umbrella, & it's cute, but it's such a hassle to carry around! Instead, I bought a cheap Marc Jacobs polka-dotted number from the MJ outlet in NYC, & I looooove it.

Also, New England? Where do you live?

  17. I love number three! I think umbrellas like that keep my feat from getting as wet :) Its been rainy here in Chicago and I end up wearing my hunters everywhere! Your blog is so wonderful - I'm your newest follower :)

  18. When I moved to SF, I made three purchases-a good pair of all-purpose rainboots, a classic trench and an oversized black umbrella with a Burberry print lining the inside. It goes everywhere with me, and I'm never embarrassed to be holding it, even when it isn't raining!

  19. I love them all! Too cute! #5 and #6 are my faves! Can't go wrong with a cute umbrella in a rainy city! XOXO

  20. Love these! I wish I had a need for on in Arizona! The only rain we get is monsoons and that would ruin a gorgeous umbrella. :)

  21. generally, i choose to wear some type of sandal that attaches to my ankle as well so I don't slap water up the back of my legs. My feet dry off quickly and I feel more alive for the splashing through puddles. I do have rain boots, but I adore wearing hot pink sandals through the puddles.

  22. It's still cloudy and rainy in Chicago, so I carry a pink travel-sized umbrella with me. Convenient and colorful! And then I have a pair of Hunter boots for serious rain.

  23. I could not live without my hunter short boots! A few years ago I bought a fabulous clear Juicy bucket umbrella and loved it. It broke in a wind storm and I was devastated. Someone passed along an umbrella to me while on vacation in LA and ever since I inherited it every time I carry it, it does not rain! A lucky umbrella is the best kind.

  24. I love #4! I keep an umbrella in my office and my car, and one of them is broken. I think this is a sign. :)

  26. Sorry but I live in the Valley of the Sun so I'm not so sure I know what you mean by "showers"...just kidding. I grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago so I know definitely know how to be prepared for a rainy day in th spring. An chic umbrella and a snazzy rain coat. I'm not real excited about the duck shoes but I'd love a pair of the Burberry rubber boots! Stay dry. PS - my outfit is ready for Friday...on polyvore!

  28. It's been POURING here in Kentucky (we have now tripled the average rainfall for April and it's still raining). I've survived by staying indoors as much as possible and wearing rubber gardening boots and a trench when I have to be outside. I don't much like umbrellas, so I'll pull out a hat, too. It usually does the trick.
