color conundrum.

It's Tuesday and I have a fun post for you today! Last week, I had dinner with one of my dear friends, {js}. She is due in a few short months with her first little one--a girl! I was fortunate enough to get a sneak peek into her dream for the little lady's nursery.

Since {js} reads my blog, she knows you all have lots of opinions--which is why she wanted me to enlist your help. Here are the "non-negotiables" she and her husband have already decided on for this sweet girl's nursery. They are opting for the darker wood crib and changing table so it works for any and all future kiddos. With the rug, curtain, and chandelier, {js} hopes to create a feminine space without going over the top. I think she nailed it!

{js} loves both of the color combinations below--and so do I! She needs your help in choosing which one to make a reality :) Without further ado...

The fuchsia and cherry red will pop beautifully against a soft aqua on the walls. If you look closely, the bumper has a hint of aqua to bring it all together. In my opinion, it is sweet and girly but not overly so.

With a soft buttercup yellow on the walls, {js} would then pair gray with the buttercup to create an inviting and cozy space. Her little lady would certainly spend her early days in the chicest of nurseries :)

Though {cv} and I will not be considering any baby {v}'s until we're in our house, I had SO much fun pulling this together for {js}. I know our little ones will play together one day--though her precious girl may have a few years on our firstborn ;) Thank you all so much for your input--I am just as anxious as {js} is to hear which one you prefer!

P.S. Check out a little guest post on my favorite staycation on Eat, Drink, Be a Tourist! Oh, and don't forget about my 15% off spring cleaning special for my blog consultation + review services :) Email me to get on my schedule!

  1. I have to agree with the chandelier, that's a must!

  2. I'm going with the first one. Not because it's bold but because those colors are amazing and happy. Also, my mother didn't love me enough to put any, seriously, effort into my nursery besides the white bedding with pink polka dots and nearly 28 years later, I'm still upset. PLUS a lot of people I know are doing the 2nd option. I also really like red and pink. And I'm also really sorry to everyone who read this entire comment.

  3. Go with the bright one. The bright colors are good for development. they're more eye catching for a baby and they're just plain awesome!!!!!

  4. LOVE both of these options and love the non-negotiables!! I would most likely go with the subdued grey, white and yellow option. Just seem to gravitate towards those colors and I think it's nice to have soothing colors in a baby's room. But, some may say it's better to have bright colors for more stimulation?! Either way, it's going to be a beautiful room!

  7. First of all, the chandelier is beautiful! I absolutely love it. I really like both color options, but I'm loving the gray and yellow color combo right now so I have to go with that one! Either way it will be super cute :) xoxo, morgan

  8. I love both of the color choices but I think the bright and bold would go better with the wood color choice they've picked out :)

  9. I like the gray bumper with the "subdued" colors. I feel like she will have more options to change the sheets out as she pleases :)

  10. Love the blog!! While I would usually choose the more soothing colors, I'm leaning toward the bright colors for Baby J, they are just more happy, exciting, and stimulating. They will also complement the chandelier wonderfully (which I LOVE). Can't wait to meet her!!! xoxo, Krissie

  11. I like the bright colors the best. They are so happy, fun and eye catching. The cool pop of turquoise is perfect with the warm red and pink!

  12. I love the bright color combo! Lots of people are doing the pastel/muted tone nurseries right now. I think while they're gorgeous, they don't scream kid to me. It's a baby, they like bright colors!

Plus - I think the softness of the chandelier, curtains and rug against the bright colors creates an amazing balance of feminine and girly. Perfect really.

  13. While both are great, I like the bright bold option better. It just seems a little more unique and I love the color combo! Love the non-negotiables, by the way!!!

  15. I vote subdued chic! I find that whenever I use really bright colors I get tired of them easily. With the less intense option she can always add bright pops of color if she wants.

  17. Subdued + Chic! I love it!! I'd add pops of girly colors to it for her first little lady, and take those out if she has a boy later on!

  18. Subdued and chic, completely. Babies can be over stimulated so easily, I think the quieter the nursery the better a baby can sleep since they wake up and then go back to sleep so many times in the night (and not just when you get up with them). But beyond that, the gray/yellow/white color combination is my favorite, hands down.

  19. Subdued and chic!! It goes perfectly with the chandelier and would give the room such a soft feel.

  20. I love "grellow" or the grey/yellow combo. Plus, it would work with any future other kiddos since yellow and grey are gender neutral!
