a jetsetting pair.

It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another chapter in my {distance makes the heart grow fonder} series! This week, I have quite the jetsetting pair for you: Ryan and Christy {from 25 Before 25} may be ending their long distance days soon, but they've spent all of their relationship thus far in separate cities. Read on to find out more about their long distance love story and how they have learned to make it work, despite the miles which lie between them...

Name: Christy
Significant Other's Name: Ryan
When did you start dating? We officially began dating in November 2010, but we had been seeing each other for the previous year.

At what point did you begin dating long distance? We’ve been long distance since the beginning! When we met in November 2009, he was living in Florida and I was in New York. We both moved around a lot over the course of that year, which is why we delayed “officially” dating.

How do you fill your days while you're apart? Ryan is a pilot, so he works quite a bit. I am a full-time grad student with both an internship and a part-time job, so I would say we both keep very busy.

What do you find most difficult about being long distance?  There are times when our schedules totally conflict and we go three, four sometimes five days without even talking on the phone. Another tough part is that we don't always know when we're going to see each other again. It is hard being physically away from each other. When you are going through a rough patch, you really want the other person there to just be there and give you a hug or hold your hand. When all you can get is a phone call, it can feel super impersonal which is incredibly difficult.

How has long distance changed your relationshipIt is all we've ever known! I do think that taking a year to figure out this was what we really wanted has been good for us. It has made us that much stronger as a couple in a long-distance relationship.

What do you enjoy most about the time you have together? Everything. We love just sitting around watching movies or re-runs of "How I Met Your Mother" or going running together. Most of the time, we try to do everyday things we would do if we were actually together all the time. At first, we were always trying to go see and do things in each other's cities. It just felt like we were always on vacation, so now, we just try and act as normal as we can!

Is there any end in sight to your long distance days? Yes! We found out that Ryan's new base as an airline pilot will be in New Jersey, while I'm currently living in New York for graduate school! After almost three years of being together and being long-distance, we are finally going to be just a short train ride away from each other.

I hope you enjoyed a peek into their life--it means so much that she'd share their story. Be sure to give some love to Christy today! I'm so glad they'll be in the same place soon...after the years apart, they have certainly paid their dues ;) Have a fantastic Wednesday, lovelies!

  3. They are so sweet! :) It is hardest to watch the other person go through something difficult and all you can do is just comfort them over the phone. That is one of the hardest things in my relationship.
