special visitors.

On Saturday morning, we have four very special visitors arriving on our doorstep in Providence! I am so excited for a weekend of fun, spent cheering on our Georgetown Hoyas and enjoying quality time with these dear friends. In preparation for their visit, it got me thinking about what I would love to have waiting for them at our apartment--if we had an unlimited budget.

Anthropologie has plenty of bathroom flair which could jazz up our rather boring bathroom. I'd can just imagine those precious trinket boxes {perfect for storing jewelry} on the vanity--and that shower curtain? Swoon! I can just smell that divine Laura Mercier sweetness now...

In lieu of these pricey additions to our guest bath, I opt to have a
basket of little essentials which will make their visit a little easier...

I include the Claritin for those guests who may get the sniffles from our furry friends. A toothbrush and a contact case always top my list of forgotten items when I pack at the last minute. And those make-up wipes? They work magic after a long night of fun. I also throw a travel-sized toothpaste and a small first-aid kit in the basket--and voilĂ ! This basket filled with goodies greets them when they first walk in the guest bath. Dusting and vacuuming await me tonight, but I'm more than happy to do those chores because they'll help me pass the time until Saturday morning!

I will see you all back here tomorrow for Friday's Fancies!

Thanks in advance for all your tips :)

  2. We don't have many overnight guests but I would have to say it is mostly food focused.

I like the thought of adding a little basket with a few bottles of water, a variety of mini snacks, and purchasing a few of your favorite magazines for them.....so you can read them later!

It would also be nice to have a photo in the room of you and your guests together back in the day!

Sounds like you're going to have a great weekend. Enjoy! :)

  8. Good ideas! I like to put out little travel sized lotions etc like a hotel! And clean! Clean extra! I always want to put mints on the pillows too, but I think my dog would probably get to them first!

  10. While I don't know if I can cheer on the Hoyas with you (I went to Syracuse after all), I can only imagine what wonderful hosts you and your husband must be! I always put together a basket of goodies for guests which usually includes the essentials you mentioned as well as travel sized shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant, lotion, gum or mints, and a goodie bag of cookies.

Hope you have a great time this weekend!

  14. When I stayed with my step-sister this past fall in New England, she had a cute little basket with lots of travel-sized toiletries and extra items like this for her guests, and I though tit was the coolest thing ever! I now always take the shampoos, lotions and little soaps (if they're nice) from hotels so I can work on my own guest basket. Cheers for being a great hostess! Have a great weekend. :)

  15. Could you be a better hostess!? I think not. I always forget makeup remover when I travel, that is such a wonderful idea to have extra!

  16. Love all of your ideas! I always center my preparation around food (of course) and try to have some good snacks around for my guests :)

  17. Such a lovely hostess you are! When I have a house guest, I love to have fresh towels (Target towels are cheap, soft, and come in a million colors, so I'll buy a few for the occasion), beautiful soap, and a sweet treat.

    Have fun! xo

  18. yum - that trinket box is to die for.

We're a foodie family so we always have treats, fresh fruit and a bottle of wine waiting for our guests. I'll usually throw together a little basket too with the essentials (Justneem soap, shampoo, condition, toothpaste, deoderant). I love the idea of including makeup wipes!

  19. I'm sure you're going to be a great host :) Whenever we have guests over, if they've never been to Portland (where we live) we always leave a goodie bag filled with Portland things. We always make sure to leave fresh new products in the guest bathroom (hand soap, travel sized shampoos and body wash, etc.). And we usually go grocery shopping to make sure we can make a good breakfast in the mornings! :) Have fun this weekend!!

  20. I think it's the thought that really counts-- whether you stock the shower with shampoo and conditioner or display beautiful soaps in a silver dish-- your guests will appreciate the effort. I know I do!

  21. You're surely the most amazing hostess! I just always try and stock up at the grocery and I like to keep extra toiletries on hand in case!

  26. What a great idea for guest prep! Ours usually involves meticulous sweeping and dusting, but since we don't have a dedicated bedroom, not much more than that!

  27. That is just the sweetest thing! Claritin is a great idea, and so are makeup removing wipes. I never remember to bring makeup remover unless I'm going to a wedding or something like that, so that is one of the most thoughtful items.

I usually make sure to have a big stack of fluffy towels, a glass of water, and snacks. :)

  28. So cute! My husband is allergic to cats and if he forgets about someone having them, the visit pretty much sucks (he also has an emergency stash in his car but sometimes he runs out). Love the thoughtful goodie basket! Makeup remover is definitely a must too :)
